Caterpillar has been innovating on a grand scale for the last 92 years.
But the world at large doesn’t share that perception yet. So we partnered with the Wall Street Journal to tell our innovation story; where it began, where we are today and the exciting places we’re taking it tomorrow. And extended this creative into a wider media play including an online video commercial, Instagram looping animation, and Facebook canvas.

Caterpillar has been innovating on a massive scale for the last 91 years, but the world at large doesn’t realize it. We illustrated Caterpillar’s innovation story: where it began, where it stands today, and where it’s headed in the future. Each innovation was crafted into an individual story and brought to life as looping animations on Instagram, milestones on a Facebook Canvas timeline, together as a brand story in a 60-second video, on a full page in the Wall Street Journal, and numerous iterations online.
